Whilst chugging along my lane in Betsy, my little ford fiesta this morning I spotted my neighbour's beautiful flowers out of the corner of my eye. He has rows and rows of lavender planted on his land for the bees he keeps. The honey from these bees is the most wonderful, mouth watering taste in the world. It really got me thinking about these beautiful buzzing insects and how hard they work.
Honey bees make just over a teaspoon of honey in their whole lives. They are programmed to work day in day out and it has been this way for ten to twelve million years. Living for just one to ten months, these amazing creatures fly for 50,000 miles to make a pound of honey.
Discovering this information has really made me appreciate honey and alter the quantity I use on a daily basis.
Honey has many benefits, it is said to prevent cancer and heart disease, reduce stomach ulcers, regulate blood sugar levels, and it treats burns and cuts. It is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and is said to aid weight loss, improve eye sight and help with nausea.
Thank you honey bees for making an amazing medicinal super food that we all love so very much. <3
