What do you snack on?

Snacks fuel my day, they give me a reason to stop for a little break, regroup and nourish my body. I think we can so often get stuck in a rut with snacks and I don't know about you, but I often get snack envy when I spot what colleagues and friends are enjoying! I got in touch with a few of my online favourites and asked them what their all time, number one snack is, here's what they had to say.

My favourite feel good snack is Turmeric and Ginger Energy Balls because both ginger and turmeric have great health benefits and they also taste AMAZING! James - Healthy Living James

My favourite feel good snack is carrot sticks and hummus, because I love the savoury flavours, it's healthy, and the crunch from the carrot makes it feel substantial and keeps me nice and full. (Bonus points for a flavoured hummus: my fave is jalapeño or moroccan!) Katy - Little Miss Katy

My favourite go-to snack is a bowl of fruit. I love it for energy, colour, it’s whole, real food and just generally good mood food 😍🌈😋 - Lara Crowther - Fill The Whole

Wholegrain rice cakes, some peanut butter and a small apple (which I always cut up because it is nicer!). Other little snacks I have are a couple of squares of dark mint choc (omg, it’s so yummy), or a couple of crackers with some soft cheese on, but the peanut butter is by far my fave!! My favourite feel good snack is clementines because they give me the opportunity to take a mindful moment. I find peeling them whilst working at my desk quite meditative, as it allows me to take a few minutes away from whatever I'm doing to focus on nothing but peeling and eating - perfection. My favourite feel-good snack are medjool dates stuffed with peanut butter and topped with dark chocolate because when a sweet craving kicks in these are always the answer! You only need one or 2 dates stuffed dates as they are rich and decadent to satisfy any sweet tooth and these dates are also a great option to end a dinner party with instead of truffles or after dinner chocolates. The best snack, for me, is one I've made myself and am able to eat still warm from the oven. This year I've had a few dental procedures. I'm extremely nervous about dentists and got myself into a fine old state each time. In the days afterwards I'd retreat to my kitchen and lick my wounds by making scones. It's not just the eating. It's the act of making them. Combining the ingredients in my large, cracked baking bowl, bringing the dough together, flattening it and cutting out the shapes. Maybe nibbling a bit of the raw dough. The satisfaction from painting on the egg wash - then placing them in the oven. Twelve minutes later and they're done. Add butter to melt into the scone and there's the perfect snack. My favourite snacks.

My favourites have to be dark chocolate covered rice cakes - either shop bought or just a rice cake enjoyed with a square or two of dark chocolate! I love having a handful of walnuts with this. I really enjoy fresh fruit cut up - cut up is the important part because it feels a little more special, I love an apple, nectarine or strawberries cut up and in a little bowl for a snack.

Autumnal and Winter snacks are all about what goes best with a cup of tea. I'm partial to a homemade brownie - these are no bake brownies which you pop in the microwave quickly before enjoying, they are ever so satisfying and make my mouth water just typing about them! I also love a nice biscuit with a cup of tea, chocolate popcorn balls or a granola bar. Another go to snack is boiled eggs, I find them really filling and perfect as a mid-morning snack which I can prepare the night before.

I'd love to hear about what your favourite snacks, please do share yours below so that we can all take foodspiration from each other!
