Vitamin Water

Vitamin Water

Water is great in any form for you, I’m one of those really annoying friends that asks “are you drinking enough water?” when someone complains of any kind of ache or pain.  It’s fantastic for combatting headaches as well as bloating, tiredness and all kinds of skin problems.

On cooler days I start my morning with a mug of hot water and a slice of lemon and ginger however right now I’m really struggling to drink hot cups of anything. (Accept for tea of course, I’ll never struggle to finish off a cuppa.)

This vitamin water is really tasty and has many benefits. I thought I’d share my new favourite soft beverage with you incase you need a little inspiration when it comes to mixing things up with your H2O intake.

There are 4 ingredients added to this water and each have a myriad of fantastic qualities; Lemon, Ginger, Cucumber and Mint. In a 2L bottle I’ll add half a lemon, half a cucumber, a handful of mint and about a thumb size amount of chopped fresh ginger.

Lemons are well known for their ability to boost the immune system. They are fantastic for fighting the symptoms of colds and flus as well as reducing high blood pressure, helping with dental problems and overall improvement of skin and hair. They are bursting with incredible vitamins such as vitamin C, B6 , A and E and also contain flavonoids which is an antioxidant proven to fight cancer.

Fresh ginger is by far one of my favourite and most used ingredients in my kitchen. It has anti inflamatory properties which helps with headaches, joint pain and period pains. It is great for combatting nausea and vomiting and is used by pregnant women for morning sickness. Ginger is a natural antibiotic and will help to fight most infections and viruses. (Please don’t solely rely on ginger for this though!) It has immune boosting properties and has also been proven to fight cancerous cells.

A great source of many types of Vitamin B, cucumbers are a fabulous natural energy booster. They are very rehydrating and fantastic for the skin as they boast a fair few antioxidants, they reduce bloating with their anti inflamatory properties and have also been proven to fight cancer cells.

Mint is great for digestion as well as aiding weight loss, it adds a refreshing light taste to this drink. It has been known to help with headaches, depression, fatigue, memory loss and nausea.
