Wonderful Wednesday Número 5 of 2018

Hello lovelies,

Can you believe it's the very last Wednesday of January? I certainly can't! It feels like this month has gone on forever. Are we sure that January has 31 days? Because it feels like it has at least double, maybe even triple. I'm eagerly typing this up ready to post early tomorrow morning before driving to the airport to pick Fraser up. I'm so excited to see him and can't wait to spend a whole weekend just pottering around not doing very much at all. I'm also very much looking forward to coming home to a warm, cosy flat with someone waiting for me for a couple of nights and not just the furbabies - whom I love dearly of course.

Let's get on with the wonderful shall we? As always, please make sure you have a hot drink to hand - I had a delicious hot chocolate made with rice milk, pure cacao powder and honey. Every kind of yum I tell you! 

.: The Giant Cat Food Order. 

We placed a huge order for cat food which arrived today, it's enough to last well over two months - phew! I like having plenty of cat food in stock. They each have a particular food they like or need to have so it's important that we never run out! Arthur's food costs three times the price in the shops here, so thank the lord for ZooPlus

.: Blossom. 

It almost seems a little too early in the year for blossom but it's here in all it's delicate, pink glory and it's really brightening my day. I can see the almond tree from my kitchen window full of pretty pink petals every time I wash up.

.: Oranges. 

The trees are full of juicy very sweet oranges and I am currently eating my weight in them! There's something ever so satisfying about the perfect orange as a snack isn't there?

.: Almonds. 

On the topic of snacks, last week I was mad about walnuts but this week I'm loving raw unsalted almonds. I'm very lucky to have an almond tree and eating fresh nuts is definitely a luxury I don't ever take for granted! 

.: Sleep Well Tea. 

My local supermarket stocks a sleep tea which is every kind of wonderful. I have at least one cup, sometimes two, every night before bed. I've always had trouble with sleeping but this really knocks me out for the night! It's full of natural goodness with a calming subtle flavour. If you live or are visiting Spain the tea is called Duerme Bien (sleep well), they definitely sell it in Mercadona and Condis. 

.: Good Skin. 

I haven't had good skin in a very long time and can you believe I've found the culprit for the flare ups? Gluten! My skin is healing, I've had no new break outs for a week - which is a record considering I used to have new breakouts several times a day and my skin is no longer feeling blistery, sore and throbbing. I chat a little about it in a recent post on My food allergies and intolerances which is the first in a series of personal posts about my journey with food.

.: Insight Timer. 

It's a meditation app which is absolutely brilliant, and free! Hip hip horray! I loved using Calm and Headspace in the past but I found them very pricey. This has hundreds of thousands of meditations on and I really like how easy it is to use. I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for new meditations. 

.: Rice Pudding. 

This week I've been loving brown rice cooked up, with sliced apple thrown in for the last five minutes. Then I drain some of the water but not all of it, add a tablespoon of almond butter and pop into a bowl. Drizzled with crushed nuts, mixed seeds and agave syrup - my current new obsession!
