Peta Coote, Certified Non-Clinical Intuitive Eating Coach & Self-Kindness Guide

Hello there, I’m Peta - pronounced like Peter but ending in an ‘a’ instead. It’s lovely to meet you and, as you’re on this page, I imagine you’d probably like to know a little more about me.

On the more formal side of things, I’ve been coaching and teaching since 2010 and found my way to self-compassion and intuitive eating coaching via my own personal journey in self-development and self-growth.

Continual Professional Development is incredibly important to me, I am a Certified Non-Clinical Intuitive Eating Coach, having completed pro-skills training with Evelyn Tribole, one of the researchers and authors behind the bestselling Intuitive Eating - A Revolutionary Anti Diet Approach. I am also a Qualified Trauma Informed Practitioner and attend supervision for both of my Intuitive Eating and Trauma Informed Practices. My training in level 7 life coaching and eating psychology has enabled me to ask the questions around eating behaviours and beliefs as well as self-judgement, that lead to remarkable breakthroughs for my clients. Improving and supporting mental health is at the very core of what I do - I am MHFA, ASSIST and Prevent trained.

Over the years I have worked with children and young people in schools as a mental health practitioner specialising in trauma, body image and disordered eating. I’ve also worked as a staff trainer, preparing and coaching teaching staff to recognise behaviours and ensure the correct support is given to students. In 2014 I began coaching adults in understanding emotional eating, secret eating, poor body image and chronic dieting. Alongside the Intuitive Eating Coaching this is when I also began guiding adults and young people in self-kindness, working with them on self-confidence, self-belief and self-accepting with a focus on judgemental thoughts, self-deprecation and self-loathing.

My professional goal is to guide my clients to a place of true self-acceptance and kindness.

Now for the personal, less formal side of things. I’m a tea adoring, dungaree wearing Cat Mum with a penchant for patterns. I am obsessed with supporting others to become comfortable in their own skin. I spend a lot of my time in the garden pottering, growing seedlings and sometimes harvesting my own fruit and veg - bird and slug dependent. I can often be found at the window, ‘bird-watching’ excitedly jumping up and down if I spot a woodpecker or a fluffy, teddy-bear like long tailed tit. Cooking and baking inspires me and cleaning and tidying clears my mind. I love to read, to move my body - especially in the sea and the beach is my happy place.
